It may also have continuity and transistor gain calculation feature, but these are the features not the sole purposes of a meter. So, don’t be impressed with these extra attractive features, professional meters don’t have them.

Remember, this is a very basic multimeter. Never play with main AC voltages without double checking the probe connections. If you mistakenly measure AC current and your probes are in DC current terminals, you will end in blowing your multimeter and maybe harm yourself. You know, as hobbyists or student you cannot really predict the requirements of any electronics project. One project will need you a multimeter to just measure some resistor values and voltage drops, the other may require other measurements, and the list goes on. So, you need a complete package and the mentioned models have got everything for you. They have all the features I mentioned above.

3. The beginner multimeter for electricians

When playing around with AC voltages or any high voltage levels, safety is always the first priority. They are very dangerous and a multimeter designed for such measurements must have safety features. And I think, as an electrician, you will encounter with high currents and voltages to learn and grow your knowledge of repairing and troubleshooting.

Sorry to say but you have to buy a decent one. I don’t think there is a beginner or expert level multimeter for people like you. I am so confident about the fluke brand that it would also compensate for your early silly mistakes. 

I don’t know but the word electrician makes in my mind, the imagination of a person doing something with high voltages and he has the intention for some industry work. If you an electrician beginner, for you I don’t care for anything in multimeter except the safety, and the fluke brand provides this their knowledge best. Don’t waste your money on a cheap one as it may seem cheap but it can harm you if you don’t play safe.

There are other great options available

Of course, there is a lot of other options one can search for. But please don’t buy an analog meter unless and until you have a very solid reason for it. Personally, I think it is always a good idea to adapt oneself with the current technology. There was time for analog devices but now we are living in modern digital word and we should learn to appreciate it.

Above all are the best multimeters for beginners I could choose giving my knowledge best. But if you have a long-term planning for electronics and have a decent budget. I would suggest buy a multimeter that will be on your side for your entire life. I said for entire life based on my trust and confidence in the fluke brand.

What is a Multimeter?

I am supposing you all already know what a multimeter is, but for some unknown reasons, I feel I should discuss it a little bit here. Basically, a multimeter is a device which is used by the electrician, electronics engineers or other awesome people to measure resistances, voltages (if you want to know how a multimeter measure voltage check my this cool article), currents (Amps), capacitances (Farads), continuity and sometimes inductances. It can also be used for diode testing, transistor testing and for its three terminals identifications. A lot of people use it to troubleshot their design circuits or other printed circuit boards. Parameters to look for in a multimeter

For complete beginners following parameters really don’t matter that much. I bought my first multimeter just keeping in mind, it should be stylish, can measure voltages and resistances. By input impedance, I actually mean the input total resistance the multimeter provide to the measuring component or circuit. The higher the input impedance the better is the multimeter.

2. Ranges

These are very important and almost no one pay attention to it. When buying a multimeter people look for what can it measure but they miss the important thing from what range to what range it can exactly measure that parameter very accurately.
